Unlocking Art’s Secrets
CELEBRATING AND REDISCOVERING FORGOTTEN MASTERPIECES, BUILDING CULTURAL BRIDGES WORLDWIDE AND FOCUSING ON FORGOTTEN FEMALE ARTISTS
Artemisia Gold CIC, a US 501 (c) (3) and UK-registered charity and global entity is committed to the rediscovery, restoration, and exhibition of artists and their masterpieces, with a focus on forgotten female artists. We nurture art appreciation through education, diagnostic analysis, restoration, and events. Artemisia Gold focus is on artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, celebrated for her important, bold, and vivid paintings created during the Baroque era in Italy. She was the first woman admitted to the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts. As well, we have worked on paintings by Suor Plautilla Nelli. A three-time prioress and painter in the convent of Santa Caterina in Cafaggio during the 16th century, she is one of the few female artists mentioned in Giorgio Vasari’s famous book The Lives of the Artists. Vasari stated that that “her male figures were painted so well that “no one could ask for more”. He noted that Suor Nelli “made so many paintings for the homes of Florentine gentlemen that it would take too much time to list them all here,” though many works are now lost.”
Thus, the paintings by these artists, long forgotten over the centuries, are brought back to life, as we acknowledge that their legacy plays a crucial role in our cultural heritage.
Join us in celebrating art, its history, the restoration process, and uncovering the stories that weave these long-forgotten artists into the rich tapestry of our cultural heritage.
